The directory & aliases

How residents join an intercom, set their aliases, and how visitors reach them.

Every intercom has a directory — the list of people a visitor can reach at that door. Residents appear in it through aliases they choose themselves.

Inviting residents

The person who creates an intercom invites others by email. Each invitee receives a link; when they accept, they’re added to the intercom and can set up how they appear.

Aliases

An alias is the name shown in the directory — like “Apartment 3”, “The Smiths”, or “Reception”.

  • You choose your own alias, so the directory reads naturally to visitors.
  • One person can have several aliases that all ring their phone — for example a personal alias and a home business alias at the same door. A visitor picks whichever one they need.

What the visitor sees

When a visitor scans the QR code, they land on the directory and search for or select an alias. They never see phone numbers or personal details — only the aliases residents chose to show. Once they pick one, Wylmi snaps a photo and rings that resident.
