Wylmi turns any door into a friendly HD video intercom. Here’s the whole flow, end to end.
Setting up an intercom
Anyone can create an intercom — for free — for a home or a whole building:
- Create the intercom and give it a name.
- Invite people by email. Each person you invite gets a link to join.
- Once they accept, they set up an alias — the name that shows in the directory (e.g. “Apartment 3”, “Reception”). One person can have several aliases (say, personal and home business) that all ring the same phone.

The visitor scans the QR code
A visitor points their phone camera at the Wylmi QR code on the door — nothing to install, no app or account. They’re taken to the intercom’s directory, where they search for and pick the alias they want to reach.
A photo is taken, your phone rings
Before the call connects, Wylmi snaps a high-definition photo of the visitor. Then it places a real HD video call to the matching person’s phone.
- On Android, the incoming-call notification can even show that preview photo of the visitor before you answer.
- Because the photo is taken on every attempt, a missed call still shows exactly who came by — and the visitor can leave a video message.
You see, talk, and open
Answer to start a two-way call: you see the visitor in HD video and hear them, and they hear you but never see you — your camera is never shared. Recognise who’s there, then tap to open the door.
Opening the door
Opening a door is optional. To enable it, associate a lock with the intercom — a Wylmi lock controller wired to the door. Once linked, an open button appears during the call (and any time). If the controller ever loses its connection to our servers, a Bluetooth backup lets a nearby phone still open the door.
