Welcome to Wylmi! This guide gets your first door up and running. The app is free, and anyone can create an intercom.
Install the app
Wylmi is available for iPhone (iOS 17+) and Android (7.0+). Download it from the App Store or Google Play, then create your account with your email.
Create your first intercom
The intercom is the heart of Wylmi — it’s what you create and share.
- Open the Intercoms tab and tap Create.
- Give it a name (e.g. “Home” or “24 Church Road”).
- Invite residents by email. When they accept, each sets an alias shown in the directory — see The directory & aliases.
Print your QR code
Each intercom gets a QR code. Print it and place it at the door. Visitors scan it with any phone camera — nothing to install — and reach the directory to pick who they want.
Answer your first call
When a visitor picks an alias, Wylmi snaps a photo and your phone rings with an HD video call showing their face. Answer to see and talk to them (they only hear you).
Optional: associate a lock
An intercom already works as a full video intercom. To also open the door from the app, associate a Wylmi lock controller — it takes about two minutes:
- In the app, open your intercom and tap Add device.
- Scan the QR code in the device package — it pairs to your intercom instantly.
- Set up its network (Wi‑Fi or a data SIM) over Bluetooth.
That’s it — an open button appears during calls (and any time), and everyone in the directory can use it right away. Without a lock, everything else works exactly the same; you just can’t release a door from the app.
